New Comp, New Investigators...Working

Hey Skinner Fam! And the Other Skinner fam! (Uncle Derek and his kids are visiting!) I'm super happy to hear about the fun you guys are having for Easter. Everyone looks great and happy!

This week was a hard week for teaching but a good week for our companionship. Elder Cubillos is really making big effort to change the habits he was into when he started the mission in Cali and is really trying to be a better missionary. He has referred(? English is hard...) to me as his Step-dad of the mission. The mission is weird and uses terms like
'Dad' for trainers and "sons"for people who are just starting the mission. But he says I'm retraining him because his trainer was bad. I've learned a lot from him too. He's very humble and is in the mission for all of the right reasons. He'll be 27 when he gets home!!! He's pretty intense about some things, like today he lost his flash drive and has been a scary person to be around all day. Last week our money wasn't there like the office said it would be and he called about every person in the entire mission about trying to figure out why. But he's really cool anyways.

This week we had a really hard time with the pass along cards because here, they celebrate the Passover. So everyone is a VERY devoted catholic during this week so it was hard to get people to even listen to us. But we bonded over that so it was good for the companionship.

We are working with an 18 year old named Alijandro and he's really awesome. He's super energetic and is super stoked to be learning about the gospel. He said that he will be baptized and I believe him!! He's nuts and has made friends with almost everyone in the ward (and he has only been to church once!) We are very excited about him.

We had a really cool experience with finding a new a investigator. We were going to a less active member's house who we are trying to have married with her partner and when we got there the little brother of the partner answered the door. They weren't home and he told that they wouldn't be until late. We had always seen him, Luiz, in their house but had never done
more than say hi to him. To me he always seemed really lonely and sad. Well, as we were about to leave, I asked him if he had any time for us. Well, he let us in and we started to talk. He explained to us that he was feeling very lonely in his life and felt lost spiritually. He's 45 years old and he and his wife are separated due to some bad decisions he has made. He said he knew God existed but had lost his connection with him due to the same bad decisions. Well, we just listened for a bit and before we knew it, we were all feeling the spirit as we testified that he didn't have to feel that way. That Christ was ALWAYS ready to help us if we will were willing to let him. we showed him the video and he liked it a lot. So we are now teaching him and we are very excited that he is ready to change his life.

I love you guys!! You are all the best!!
Love
Elder Skinner
