And Another New Area... (with Audio file)

Hey mom! I hope everything is going well for you and my most excelent
family.

I'm writing from a different area with a new companion. Surprise.

My new comp is Elder Guerrero from Argetina. He's got about 4 months into
the mission and is super funny. He still has his obedient desires so we're
going to kill it this transfer! I'm still the district leader here and so
the Lord is still trusting me with something important. I'm doing well and
I'm going to get a lot better in my Animo (happiness) and Obedience.

I love you mom!
Love,

Elder Skinner

New Year, New Area

Howdy ya'll!

I did get transferred and am now in Vista Hermosa, or beautiful view. And wow. It really does have a beautiful view! It's really close to the Cristo Rey that i took pictures of when I got to the field so that should give you an idea of how high up it is.
My comp's name is Elder Bedoya and he's from Pareda Colombia. He's about to finish his mission this transfer. He's pretty cool. We met in Popayan and have been in the same areas twice. Oh yeah... And I'm the district leader! I made it 17 months without getting called to be a leader but now it's come. I'm really nervous because the AP's are part of my district now. But they hardly come to meetings I guess.
The culture has been easier for me to handle when I realize that it's culture. It says in the Adjusting ot Missionary Life book that "your companion's behavior makes perfect sense to him even if it doesn't to you". And that's how it is! I don't really understand the Latins but they don't really understand me! There are many things about their culture that we
would consider really strange. But they probably look at us the same way. One talk from conference in April last year talked about that. Some gungho missionary who got a deadbeat companion and thought that he was a drag and Heavenly Father told him, "Compared to me, the two of you really aren't that different".

I'm sad to leave Cerrito but I'm glad I can start again.

I'm going to look for new shoes this week and next Pday I'll buy some. they
are cheap and not to hard ot find. My comp is really into fashion so he'll
probably enjoy doing that anyways.

I love you mom! I'm going to need some prayers this week and I'll keep you
in mine. I'm still struggling with a moderate homesickness and it might not
get any better with the whole watching my comp finish his mission.

I love you guys!
